This is a powerful poem, Lori.

My husband’s grandfather, Charlie was a stoker on ships during the war. His job, shifting coal into the fire, was dangerous and exhausting. When the ship was under attack the doors to the engine room where he worked were locked. Charlie would salute you for these words.
