Thank you for sharing your experience and advice, Dr. Yildiz. As writers, we all share the common experience of feeling disheartened by low reads, whether on Medium or any other platform. It's a struggle that unites us all.
A platform that hasn't promised us anything doesn't owe us anything. But a wise management team will always strive for a win-win situation where all parties are happy. "A rising tide lifts all boats."
During times of change, platform glitches and other problems, transparency fosters trust and patience, whereas a lack of it causes frustration and discontent.
Over the last five years, there are a few things I've learned we can count on for better or for worse.
- A writer's journey is filled with uncertainties.
- Algorithms constantly change, and we won't always understand how they work.
- Platform owners will make decisions without our input and may not communicate the reasons for them.
- Earnings may go up and down for unknown reasons.
- Some writers will earn more, others will earn less.
I believe that if we keep honing our writing skills they will improve and prepare us for future opportunities. Sometimes we need to widen our perspective or do a full 180 as opportunities don't always come from the direction we are expecting.. We can learn from all experiences, even the most challenging ones.
Despite your recent frustrations you've explored other avenues, found even greater success and continued to mentor your large following of loyal writers. I tip my hat to you.
