Thanks for reading my story, Lionel.
To answer your question about what I'm doing to help, my heart and mind opened to the issue of hunger when I attended the Live Aid concert in 1985. Seeing images of desperate, starving children with bloated stomachs while listening to "Do They Know It's Christmas" song with its message - Feed the World, made a lasting impression.
When my son was three years old, I started sponsoring children in Ethiopia and have been doing this for 19 years. I've had many encounters with homeless individuals. I wrote about one of my experiences here: https://psiloveyou.xyz/a-christmas-star-1a09828aeb20
In my community, I support various organizations that help hungry people. I've made donations to the Share Society a group that runs our local food bank, Backpack Buddies - a program for hungry school children and I've volunteered with the Tri-Cities Food Hub. I'm also a member of the Tri-Cities Community Action team.
Two weeks ago, a new emergency shelter for the homeless opened in my neighbourhood. I collected items via my local network and dropped them off. I'm doing what I can with the time and resources I have. I wish I could do more, but I know every little bit helps.
