That's interesting, Nina. I hadn't thought about the philosophical side of things in relation to the gut.
My daughter is in her 3rd year at the University of British Columbia. She is currently doing an 8 month co-op job at Gut4Health, a microbiome core facility based at BC Children's Hospital. She works with local clinicians and researchers to define the gut microbiome composition and function of pediatric patients to help predict, prevent, and treat diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease and C. difficile infections.
Her main role is to process samples from the local studies (extract and analyze bacterial DNA) and aid in the development of new and safe microbiome therapies. I'll pass on your name to her if that's OK. Maybe you two can connect on LinkedIn. :)
